Top Influencer Marketing Trends in 2019

Influencer marketing is finally gaining some respect. What will that mean in 2019, and how can you take advantage of the power of social influencers?

Influencer Marketing Trends in 2019

2018 was the last year influencers were taken for granted. After the FTC’s crackdown on brands and influencers for not disclosing their partnerships, everyone has taken a closer look at the impact influencer marketing has had on the buyer journey.

Interestingly, influencers are starting to launch their own powerful brands, and really, why shouldn’t they? Which brings us to trend #1.

Original brands by influencers

2019 will bring more influencer owned brands to the table. The buying power of influencers is so strong, and so many did it successfully in 2018, that it is likely to happen in bigger and better scale than in 2018.

Just last year, we saw the growth of Chriselle Lim, Danielle Berstein, Shea Marie, and Julia Engel‘s brands. Two of the aforementioned have partnerships with Nordstrom.

Influencer partnerships will be deeper

This year, we will see influencer and brand relationships deepen. Meaning, we won’t be seeing one or two posts from influencers as much. Instead, we will see bigger campaigns that span weeks or even months. Fashionnova is just one of the brands doing this already.

If companies are smart, they will consider longer, more in-depth, cross channel contracts with influencers this year.

Stories will be the new biggest converter

Consumers want raw content, and influencers know this. We will see a lot more influencers using stories to promote sponsored content.

Marketers will need to prove the ROI of influencer marketing

There are plenty of tools out there that marketers can use to track the success of influencer campaigns. There are UTM links, google analytics, and software specifically designed to track influencer campaigns. This means investing in influencer marketing also means investing in the tools to track campaigns accordingly.

Advice to marketers

In 2019, we strongly advise to invest in influencer marketing and to stay-up-to-date in influencer marketing trends. That means your team needs to be on social media platforms daily, noting who’s who in which industry and why.

Know the value of influencer marketing as a service, so you can explain the value to clients.

If you are trying to growth and scale your business, take some time developing an influencer marketing strategy that aligns with you business goals, or find a company like Socialhart, which specializes in influencer marketing.

It’s important to know which influencers are right for your brand, goals, and growth stage. Walk before you can run.

Advice to influencers

To influencers, Socialhart is excited to see what you will bring to the table this year.

As a marketer on the other side, I can tell you we are definitely looking for up-and-coming talent. We want influencers to find us and give us a reason to hire them.

If you like a brand, send them a pitch. Give them a reason to say yes. We love people who make our jobs easier.

Here’s what to include in a brand pitch:

  • Who You Are
  • Your Stats
  • Your Best Images
  • Your Niche
  • Your Audience
  • Past Work
  • Ideas
  • And why you connect to this brand

Make sure you really let your value and personality shine. As we said, we want a reason to work with you.
